VMG3925 Block Private MAC Addresses
Hi,
I have a VMG3925-B10C home router which I use for Parental controls. I kept finding my children were bypassing the controls and realized this is because their iPhones have an option 'use private address' which creates a random private MAC address. Is there any way to block private MAC addresses (which have a specific range) to force the iPhone to use it's physical hardware MAC? I do know other routers have this option but can't find it on the VMG3925. The MAC address filter does not appear to allow wildcards, so cannot be used either.

Hello @runciblehat
Welcome to the forum.
I have not found a user manual for the VMG3925-B10C but have found one from 2015 for the VMG3925-B10B, see
I think that the feature that you need is MAC Filter under Security and set it to Allow specific MAC addresses to connect to the router (wired or wireless.)
This should defeat the ability of a device to change its MAC address and still get access.
Kind regards,
Tony

Hello,
To address the issue of your children bypassing parental controls using private MAC addresses on your VMG3925-B10C router, consider MGH updating the firmware, exploring advanced settings, using third-party parental control solutions, or creating a separate network for their devices. Additionally, keep your router's firmware up-to-date, use parental control apps on their devices, and educate your children about responsible internet usage.
