In the latest NCC update (version 18.20), Zyxel Networks has introduced new management features for the UG FLEX H Series devices, which include advanced firewalls and security appliances. These enhancements offer improved visibility, detailed status metrics, and streamlined access to critical information, making it easier for administrators to manage USG FLEX H Series devices in Nebula. Here’s a closer look at these updates and how they enhance the user experience.

Key Enhancements for USG FLEX H-Series Devices in NCC 18.20

The following features are part of NCC’s latest update for managing H-Series devices, which includes topology visualization, quick access to SecuReporter, detailed device information, and event logs.

1. Enhanced Site-Wide Topology View

The site-wide topology view has been updated to support USG FLEX H Series devices, providing a clear visual representation of device connectivity within a network. Key features include:

  • Direct Visualization: Only devices directly connected to the H Series device and registered within the same site are displayed in this view.
  • Connection Type Identification: Ports are displayed with specific icons indicating if they are uplinks, standard connections, or Power over Ethernet (PoE) connections.
  • Device Information on Detail Page: In the Detail Page, under the General Tab, you will find basic information such as the device's online/offline status, IP address, and firmware version.

Note: Devices connected indirectly (e.g., through a switch) or registered on a different site are not currently shown in this release but are expected to be supported in future updates.

2. SecuReporter Portal Link Integration

For USG FLEX H Series devices, a new direct link to the SecuReporter portal is available from the NCC dashboard:

  • One-Click Access: Administrators can access the SecuReporter by clicking on the icon, taking them directly to detailed security analytics and threat reports for enhanced monitoring.

3. Event Log Access and Synchronization

The event log functionality has been enhanced to provide synchronized logging between NCC and the local device:

  • Event Logs in NCC: All key events are now accessible within NCC, allowing administrators to monitor network activity directly from the cloud interface.
  • Local Log Synchronization: For USG FLEX H Series devices, NCC synchronizes the event logs with the device’s local storage. This differs from Access Points (APs), where logs in NCC do not retain copies on the local device.
  • Periodic Log Updates: Logs are updated periodically to ensure the latest events are available in NCC and stored on the device.

4. Enhanced Device Detail Page

The device detail page has been updated to offer richer insights and real-time status updates for H-Series devices. Key updates include:

  • Real-Time Refresh Button: A new refresh button allows administrators to instantly update and view the latest data, including link status and traffic statistics.
  • CPU and Memory Usage Monitoring: CPU and memory usage metrics are now displayed, providing insight into device performance and helping to identify potential issues during high loads.
  • Detailed Port Information: Administrators can view port-specific details, including link speed, status, and PoE capabilities, directly on the device page.

Summary of Benefits

The USG FLEX H Series management enhancements in NCC 18.20 provide a comprehensive suite of tools for network administrators, offering improved visibility, security management, and troubleshooting capabilities. These updates streamline network management for USG FLEX H Series devices, making it easier to monitor, secure, and maintain network health.
