The process of AC Discovery and management proceeds as follows:

  1. A Zyxel device with AC Discovery enabled joins a wired network and receives a dynamic IP address.
  2. The AP sends out a discovery request looking for an Access Controller (AC).
  3. If an AC, such as a ZyWALL ATP, is present on the network:
    • In Manual mode: The AC adds the Zyxel device to its Unmanaged Access Points list, and the network administrator decides which APs to manage.
    • In Always Accept mode: The AC automatically adds the Zyxel device to its Managed Access Points list, provides it with default configuration information, and securely transmits the DTLS pre-shared key. The Zyxel device is then ready for WiFi client association.
