supervisor / root password generator from Serial Number

there is a free root password generator , but it only works for older generation firmware.

zyxel support can generate the root password, but only does it if the device is covered by support (1st jear or other contract).
the free pw generator works only for devices with SN: starting with S20…. or S21….
newer SN: like S22….. it does not work.
most likely it is due to a updated ld-uClibc.so.0 file.
as many would need the root password , some funding should be made and pay a programmer to update the existing pw generator.

usually, most users do not need access for root. check with your ISP about acquiring password.

ISP is the least to give you root password
contact zyxel support
posting into forum for password wont work0 -
I contacted Zyxel support, and they replied that they do not supply root passwords to end users.

open a support ticket , there is no public PW generator for SN: S230… or higher

As I said, I did contact support (by opening a ticket), and after a bit of a discussion the paraphrased response was :
" AT command access requires root account access".
I knew this already - the reason I was asking for the root password was ro access AT commands from the CLI. In addition, they then said:
"Under no circumstances will ZyXel provide root password to end users."
They also said :
"The NR7101 went EOL in 2024, and there will be no more firmware updates, so they cannot even consider adding SMS support"
SMS access is why I was requesting root access - my service provider now sends authetication links via SMS, and therefore any updates I want to my service require me to receive an SMS to enable it.
The final point from ZyXel was somewhat disappointing, as it basically says get rid of my NR7101 :
"So in this situation you will have to change either the service or the router"
Changing service provider is not an option, as I only get usable coverage from one service (EE in the UK)
