Zyxel AP initial setup SSID enhancing security with OWE mode from Firmware version 7.10
Starting with upcoming firmware updates, Zyxel Access Points will enhance network security by changing the default security mode of the SSID Zyxel-xxxx to Enhanced-open. This means that by default, the SSID will adopt Opportunistic Wireless Encryption (OWE), providing encrypted data transmission on open networks.
This change is part of Zyxel's commitment to improving user security and ensuring modern standards are met. For customers using older firmware versions, the default SSID remains open without encryption until the firmware is updated.
With the adoption of Enhanced-open as the default security mode for the SSID Zyxel-xxxx, users who wants to access the AP's LAN interface by connecting to the default SSID for initial setup and configuration will need a device that supports Enhanced-open. Devices without Enhanced-open support will be unable to connect to the default SSID. Alternatively, users can use a direct Ethernet connection to the AP for initial setup and configuration, ensuring compatibility and seamless access to modify the AP settings.
