Unique Password Implementation in Zyxel Access Points

Zyxel is implementing a unique password system for all newly manufactured access points (APs) to comply with EU security regulations and enhance overall device security. This change ensures that each AP will have a unique default admin password, replacing the long-standing "1234" default password used in previous models.
1. What is Changing?
Previously, all Zyxel APs used the default password "1234" for initial login. Starting with WiFi 7 Band Flex APs, as well as all APs manufactured after February 2025, each device will have a unique password printed on its back label.
Which Devices Are Affected?
WiFi 7 Band Flex APs (NWA 110BE, WBE 510D, NWA 210BE, WBE 630S) → Already using unique passwords from Day 1.
All AP models manufactured after February 2025 → Will transition to unique passwords.
Older AP models manufactured before February 2025 → Will continue using "1234" as the default password.
2. How Does the Unique Password Work?
- The password is stored in the system at the time of manufacturing.
- Firmware 7.10 introduces a password verification check, ensuring that APs with a unique password only allow login using that password.
- Factory resets will not change the password—the AP will always revert to its unique password.
3. What Happens if You Downgrade Firmware?
If an AP manufactured after February 2025 is downgraded to an older firmware version (before 7.10), the system will not check for a unique password, and the default will revert "1234".
