NTP Settings Enhancement in Zyxel APs (Firmware 7.10)

In firmware 7.10, Zyxel has introduced a major improvement to how Cloud-Managed APs handle Network Time Protocol (NTP) settings. Previously, APs in Cloud Mode were locked to a default NTP server, causing issues for customers with restricted networks that require using a private NTP server.
Firmware 7.10 now allows Cloud-Managed APs to manually set an NTP server.
1. Two new methods to configure NTP settings:
- DHCP Option 42 Support – APs can now receive an NTP server from a DHCP offer.
- Manual NTP Server Entry – Admins can manually set an NTP server in the AP’s local Web GUI.
2. How to Configure NTP for Cloud-Managed APs
Method 1: DHCP Option 42 (Recommended for Centralized Control)
Set Up DHCP Option 42 for USG FLEX & ATP Firewalls:
- Go to DHCP Server Settings → Advanced → Extended Options.
- Select Option 42 (NTP Server Assignment) and enter your private NTP server’s IP.
Set Up DHCP Option 42 for H-Series Firewalls:
- Go to Edit Interface → DHCP Extended Options → Enable Option 42.
After applying Option 42, APs will automatically sync with the assigned NTP server.
Method 2: Manual NTP Configuration in Web GUI
If you prefer to manually specify an NTP server, you can now do so via the AP’s local Web GUI. Edit the System Setting then enter your preferred NTP server's domain name or IP address.
