NR7302 5g router issues

I just purchased the Zyxel NR7302 5g router and it is causing me a ton of issues.

• Slow speed when I connect my Asus router via lan. 60mbit via NR6g-NSA instead of 350mbit via my iphone with the same sim card.
• wifi on the Zyxel router has no internet.

My firmware is 1.00(ACHA.4)b5_F0.

When I search for newer firmware via the app or the browser interface there are none available but only apparently the V1.00(ACHA.6)b3 is the newest firmware.

The Zyxel website has nothing. That is ridiculous to me. It says contact your Zyxel supplier for the file.

Anybody who can help? Otherwise the device is going straight back to the shop.

The NR7302 is an outdoor router, so you won't use the WiFi on that model. It is only for admin access (if it works the same way as the NR7101, FWA710, etc).

The NR7302 should be connected back to a switch, or direct into another mesh router to then provide your WiFi.

You mention that you are connecting it back to an Asus Router? Can you clarify. Do you mean NR7302 —> Asus Router? If so, then make sure the NR7302 is passthrough mode.

With regards to the speed, I'm assuming the NR7302 is a directional unit so have you got it positioned optimally? Did you use the Zyxel Air app? What are your signal stats?

I had very good signal (full bars in the app, -84dbA in the web interface).

that was when connecting via asus router and using the zyxel as a modem.

It isnt written anywhere, that the device doesnt connect to the internet via internal wifi. Quite bad that that is not a function available.

Ans the lack of firmware support is also worrying. So it is going back.

Ah shame, but no worries.

I think potentially the firmware (or lack of) could just be due to the newness of the device. I'm not sure how long it has been available for.

I'm 2KM away from the cell tower and for comparison my stats are:

• RSSI -60
• RSRP -72 (Signal Strength)
• RSRQ -11
• SINR 5
• RSRP-NSA -77
• RSRQ-NSA -7
• SINR-NSA 19

Would have been interesting to see what you were getting.

Also it does state in the user manual that the WiFi isn't for use just for future reference.

Wireless WAN

The Zyxel Device can connect to the Internet through a SIM card to access a wireless WAN connection. Just insert a SIM card into the SIM card slot on the Zyxel Device. Note: You must insert the SIM card into the card slot before turning on the Zyxel Device.

Internet Access

Your Zyxel Device provides shared Internet access by connecting to a cellular network. Connect the LAN port of the Zyxel Device to an indoor gateway/router through an RJ45 cable to allow multiple WiFi clients to access the Internet. A computer can connect (with Ethernet cables and a PoE injector) to the Zyxel Device’s LAN port for configuration via the Web Configurator.

Wireless LAN (WiFi)

The Zyxel Device WiFi is for local management so you cannot access the Internet through WiFi. Connect a computer/smartphone to the Zyxel Device’s WiFi and use the Web Configurator to configure your Zyxel Device.
