Hello,

I've a 710W ZTE that's connecting to a BTS that's behind a building while it has another one that's totally free of impediments.

Here's how it's installed:

Here's the fee BTS

And some signal details

Would it be possible to force to connect to the other BTS?

Thanks

    Hi there,

Cellular Lock should help you that your device will prioritize one base station if you are located within reach of multiple base stations.

The configuration path is Network settings > Broadband > Cellular Lock (LTE) & Cellular Lock(5G)

For detailed information about this feature, please refer to pages 156-158 in the User Guide.

ok but Cell Lock may cause me to disconnect if the BTS goes in saving mode and turns off some cells/ frequencies… wouldn't be possible in the future firmware to prioritize the BTS?

    Hi @advapiIT ,

Basically, Cellular Lock should help you that your device will prioritize one base station if you are located within reach of multiple base stations. Let us take a look at an example configuration:

    21012978961810

In the above case you see that two base stations within reach had been defined. Please note that there is no priority order for the cells configured on the Cell Lock page. If there are more than 1 cells specified, the connection would be based on the signal level of the cells. For example, we set 2 cells, but the RFCN 1275 does not have necessarily higher priority than the RFCN 9560.

I see two issue here… first how can I know the cell if my router does not connect to it? suppose that I put cell 123 but cell 123 does not exist…how can this connect to that BTS?

Would be possible in a future to have a way to prioritize just a BTS without the cell?

    Thanks

    HI @advapiIT ,

You need to check the Physical Cell ID (PCI) using apps/tools or contact your mobile carrier before entering it into the Cellular Lock feature.
Since multiple cells may exist on one cellular tower (BTS), if you want to prioritize a specific BTS, find and enter all of its associated cell IDs.

    Hi @advapiIT ,

You're right. Manually inputting the physical Cell ID tells the router which base stations you want it to connect to.
