The client IPv4 address can be obtained through the following:
- IPv4 address detected from client’s LLDP (Link Layer Discovery Protocol) Management Address
- IPv4 address detected from the Nebula-managed access point
- IPv4 address detected from the Nebula-managed Security Appliance.
In most cases, endpoint devices do not include the IPv4 address in their LLDP TLV. As a result, wired clients typically do not display an IP address on the Clients page in Nebula.
However, if you notice that a wired client connected to a switch shows an IP address, it is usually because the device is connected to the internet through a Nebula-managed Security Appliance, which enables the IP address to be learned and displayed.
