When attempting to transfer a device to a different organization in Nebula, you might find the Organization selection greyed out, preventing the transfer. This typically occurs because Nebula policy only permits device transfers between organizations that share the same organization owner. If the source and target organizations have different owners, the transfer will be blocked.

To resolve this issue and enable device transfer, follow these steps:

  1. Verify Administrator Privileges: Ensure that the user account attempting the device transfer possesses either "Owner" or "Full" administrator privileges for both the source and the target organizations. Lack of appropriate permissions will prevent the transfer.
  2. Confirm Organization Ownership: Determine if the source and target organizations are currently registered under different owner accounts. This is the most common reason for the greyed-out selection.
  3. Transfer Organization Ownership: If the organizations have different owners, you must transfer the ownership of one of the organizations to match the other. This action will place both organizations under the same owner account. Detailed guidance on how to transfer the organization owner can be found in the Zyxel Community article, "How to Transfer the Organization Owner".
  4. Initiate Device Transfer: Once both organizations are under the same owner, you should be able to proceed with moving the device to the desired organization.
