Q:

Why does the switch status show 'Not up to date, require upgrade to the latest firmware'?

A:

This message appears because of a Nebula platform upgrade that was implemented. The platform now uses a newer NETCONF version to enable additional features when communicating with devices.

If a switch is using older firmware, Nebula detects the firmware version and reverts to the previous NETCONF version for compatibility. This triggers the message, “Not up to date, require upgrade to latest firmware.”

For switches installed before the upgrade:

  • If no configuration changes are made, the switch remains "Up to date" because it does not require newer NETCONF functionalities.
  • However, if new features supported by the recent NETCONF version are engaged, the system displays the 'not up to date' message.

It’s important to note that the configuration status of your switch does not affect its current operations. You can continue to operate the device without immediate firmware updates unless new features are required.

To avoid this warning, consider upgrading the firmware to the latest version.
