Hi @shabx81,
I understand you're looking for software to access your Zyxel NSA310, similar to Windows File Explorer, and that the "Find Me" utility isn't working for you.
Please be aware that all Zyxel NAS models, including the NSA310, are currently in End-of-Life (EOL) status. This means there will be no further official enhancements, new features, or technical support provided for these products directly from Zyxel.
While direct official software support is limited, you should still be able to access your NSA310 through your network.
Here's some information that might help:
- Accessing via Network Share: The NSA310 typically supports network sharing protocols like SMB (Server Message Block). You should be able to access your NAS shares directly through Windows File Explorer by typing the NAS's IP address or network name into the address bar (e.g.,
\\your_nas_ip_addressor\\your_nas_name). - Firmware: While no new firmware is being developed, you might be looking for an older firmware version if your device is running a very old one. Firmware for the NSA310 is V4.xx(AFK.x). You may find community-maintained archives of older firmware versions.
- "Find Me" Utility: The ZyXEL NSA Starter Utility, which likely includes the "Find Me" function, has been End-of-Life (EOL).
- Windows 11 and SMB: If you are using Windows 11, especially version 24H2, you might experience issues with the NSA310 appearing in File Explorer due to changes in SMB protocols. There are community discussions and potential workarounds for this, including ensuring SMB is enabled on the NAS.
To help me understand your situation better and provide more specific guidance, please provide the following information:
- Firmware Version: What is the current firmware version installed on your NSA310?
- Operating System: What operating system are you using to access the NAS (e.g., Windows 10, Windows 11, macOS)?
- Network Setup: Can you describe your network topology? Is your computer directly connected to the router, or are there other network devices in between?
- Error Messages: Are you receiving any specific error messages when trying to access the NSA310? Please provide screenshots if possible.
- Connection Method: How are you currently trying to connect to the NSA310 (e.g., directly via IP address, through a network share)?

Thank you for responding. Answers below.
1. NSA310 ver 7.2.6-1
2. Windows 11. But I have an older laptop with Windows 7 which I havent tried.
3. Laptop to Router, NSA310 to laptop via LAN cable
4. Standard error
"Windows cannot access \\nsa address"
5. Directly via ip. I can view files through "twonky server" but its really hard to browse and download each file.

Maybe I can just tru running NSA Starter Utility on the old laptop? Would you have the setup file? I dont have the CD that came with the NSA310 anymore unfortunately.

Why do you want to run the starter utility? As far as I can see it's only purpose here would be to find the IP address/network name of the NAS. But as you can access the NAS via Twonky, that is not needed.
Can you still reach the webinterface?
I think you have an SMB problem. The NAS is old, and only supports SMB1 out of the box. Microsoft started to disable SMB1 on W10, in favour of SMB2/3, for security reasons, but it could still be enabled. Don't know about W11.
It wouldn't be a bad idea to try your W7 system.
