ZYXEL FWA505 and external antenna design

Hi everyone, my name is Mauro and I’ve just joined the community.

I would like to ask for some clarification regarding external antenna support. I live in a house with significant signal shielding where indoor 5G/4G reception is non-existent. Because of this, I rely entirely on external antennas and cables.
Based on my previous experience, I need a device where the external antenna ports support both 5G and 4G signals. I recently tested an expensive router that featured two SMA ports, but they were dedicated exclusively to 5G, while 4G was restricted to the internal antennas. Due to the shielding in my home, that router was unable to receive any 4G signal at all.
Does the Zyxel FWA505, despite having only two TS9 ports, support both 4G and 5G reception through the external antennas?

Thank you in advance for your help! Best regards, Mauro😃😃

    Hi @wkmaurom,

    Welcome to the Zyxel Community!

Regarding external antenna support on the FWA505:

Yes, the Zyxel FWA505 supports both 4G (LTE) and 5G (NR) reception through its external antenna ports.

The two TS9 connectors are designed to cover a wide frequency range from 698 MHz to 4200 MHz, ensuring they can handle both 4G and 5G (Sub-6GHz) signals from your external antennas.

Please note that the device will operate in 2x2 MIMO mode via the two external ports. While this can offer a stable connection, it still may differ from the peak speeds achievable with the internal 4x4 MIMO configuration.
