A: If either limit is reached, no new backup files will be generated, and the backup rotation mechanism will not remove old files. Instead, an error will be logged in the Event Log under the System category:

If the size limit is exceeded: Configuration backup error: total size of all configuration files exceeds the maximum limit.

If the file number limit is exceeded: Configuration backup error: maximum number of configuration files exceeded.
