BitTorrent traffic problem on GS2220

Has anyone experienced something similar with GS2220?

I have a GS2220-28HP (firmware V5.00(ABRR.3)) connected to a QNAP TS-h765eU.

After upgrading the NAS from QuTS hero 5 to QuTS hero 6, BitTorrent traffic (both Download Station and qBittorrent) causes a very strange issue.

The switch logs repeated events like:

Port 25 link down
Port 25 link up 100M
Port 25 link down
Port 25 link up 100M
Port 25 link down
Port 25 link up 1G
STP topology changes switch becomes the STP new root

Things already checked:

  • Same behaviour with and without LACP (single port as well).
  • Storm Control disabled.
  • Loop Guard disabled on the QNAP ports.
  • STP Guard disabled.
  • Switch CPU is low.
  • QNAP logs do not report any NIC link down events.

The problem only occurs during BitTorrent traffic. SMB, backups and other traffic work normally.

Has anyone seen similar behaviour with GS2220 or QuTS hero 6?

    Hi @cynik606

I don't see any similar issues like this. Could you help to check:

    • Share your network topology so we can understand which port and device you connected.
    • Is the port led changing like the logs you shared?
    • What's the frequency of this issue during the BitTorrent traffic?
    • Did this issue only happen on QuTS hero 6 or also on QuTS hero 5?
    • Could you help to collect the tech support file so we can check the log timestamp and other information? You may send the tech support file to me via message.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your reply.

    Here are the answers:

    1. Topology
GS2220-28HP is the only switch in my network. The QNAP TS-h765eU is connected using a 2-port LACP (802.3ad) bond on ports 25 and 26.
    2. Port LEDs
During the issue I did not notice any physical link loss. The links remain at 1 Gbps. However, port 26 changes to BLOCKING in the switch dashboard and is no longer listed as a synchronized LACP member.
    3. Frequency
The issue is reproducible during BitTorrent traffic. It happened with both Download Station and qBittorrent.
    4. QuTS version
I never experienced this before upgrading the NAS to QuTS hero 6.
    5. Tech support
Unfortunately I cannot generate the switch tech-support file. The generation starts, but after about one minute the web interface always ends with:

Object Not Found – The requested URL "" was not found on the RomPager server.

I can reproduce this every time in both Cloud Mode and Networked AV.
