Download Service stucked and HDD Problems

Hi,

I'm relatively new here and not very familiar with Linux commands.

I have a Zyxel NSA320 running firmware V4.70(AFO.3). I've been using it for several years and it has worked perfectly until a few days ago.

The issue started after I pasted a few magnet links (as I usually do) into the Download Service. The next day, I noticed that the HDD LED had turned red. When I tried to access the web interface, navigation was extremely slow. Switching between System, Storage, Network, and Applications took several seconds each time.

When I finally reached the Download Service page, the "Please wait..." message and loading spinner would remain on screen for a long time before responding. All active torrents had disappeared, and the download history was empty.

I tried to repair the drive using the "Scan Volume / Auto Fix" option from the web administration interface. It seemed to help temporarily, but the HDD LED still turns red from time to time.

Eventually, I disabled all services (FTP, Media Server, and Download Service), and performance returned to normal. The system is no longer slow, but it's not very useful without those services running.

I can still access all my data through Windows Explorer, and I've managed to back up some important files because I suspect the hard drive may be starting to fail. I also deleted the entire incoming/temp download folder just in case it was contributing to the problem.

So my question is:

Is it possible that some incomplete torrent downloads or seeding files became corrupted and are causing the Download Service to hang?

Could the Download Service be trying to access damaged sectors on the hard drive and getting stuck as a result?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
