I have 2 wifi extenders in my house but 1 keeps dropping off of the network. I have changed out both sides of the cat6 and used my klein scout to test and it comes back good. All I get with this 1 device is a steady blue flash. What is the issue?

    Hi @CDeRusha ,

Welcome to the Zyxel Community! A flashing blue LED on a Nebula Access Point typically points to one of two scenarios:

    Solution & Diagnostic Guidance

    1. Smart Mesh / Repeater Mode (Fast Blinking Blue - 300ms):
    • This is the most common cause for this behavior. When a Nebula AP cannot establish a stable wired uplink through its Ethernet port, it automatically switches to Smart Mesh Repeater mode and begins flashing blue as it searches for a neighboring root AP to connect to wirelessly.
    • Even though your Klein Scout tester confirms the CAT6 cable's physical integrity, the AP's physical Ethernet port or the switch/injector port may still fail to negotiate a data link, causing the AP to drop off the wired network and attempt to mesh.
    1. DFS Channel Scan (Slow Blinking Blue - 1s):
    • If the blue flash is slow (1-second intervals), the AP might be performing a Channel Availability Check (CAC) on a DFS (radar-sensitive) channel.
    • During this check, the AP temporarily suspends wireless services for up to 10 minutes, which can make it appear offline.
    1. Verify Power and Link Negotiation:
    • Power Delivery: If the AP is underpowered (e.g., receiving standard 802.3af PoE when it requires 802.3at PoE+), it may repeatedly reboot or drop its physical Ethernet link, falling back to a flashing blue state. Try powering it with a local DC power adapter or a verified PoE+ injector to isolate power-related issues.
    • Port Cross-Testing: Try plugging the problematic AP directly into the switch port and cable used by the working AP to see if the issue persists. This helps rule out a faulty Ethernet port on either the AP or the switch.

    To Help Narrow This Down:

To help us pinpoint the exact cause, could you share a few more details?

    • Product Model: What is the exact model of the failing AP?
    • Network Topology & Power: What is your network topology and how is the AP being powered (e.g., PoE switch, PoE injector, or wall power plug)?
    • Flashing Behavior: Is the blue flash very rapid (multiple times a second) or a slower, steady pulse (once per second)?

Let us know how it goes!
