NAS326 web admin login never finishes logging in

I hadn't used the web admin in ages so I don't know whether this is from the last firmware update or some other blip, but the web admin simply shows "logging in..." with the wait  animation, but never completes.

Tried it in several different browsers.
It makes no difference if I put the right password or wrong so it seems as if it is not even actioning it

Anyone else had this happen?

I went on it with browser developer tools on and it there I saw   that my virus scanner/firewall tools was very helpfully "preventing me from sending a password in clear"

Yes, I have similar problem with the NAS540. Folders are accessible on other ways, but login via the browser is not possible.

Good catch! I guess this means that using https for the login also solves the problem?

Which virus scanner/firewall is that?
