Router keeps disconnecting

I have a problem with my ZyXEL VMG8324-BxA (unit bought from ISP). When it's connected via a standard ethernet cable directly to a PC it connects to it for a while, but after a few seconds it disconnects. This repeats endlessly. It does this with every PC in the household. Wireless network is meanwhile working without any problem.

The first unit was send to a authorised service and was replaced for a brand new one. The new unit does the same thing. ISP says, that everything on their side is functioning correctly.

I can't figure out where the problem lies, so I am here to ask, if any one of you can.
