nas 326. finally getting around to fixing the gui

So i have 5.21 AZZF.1firmware. My gui is not working. direct page to the IP get me 404 error. Using the nas starter finds the NAS. I launch the desktop. but it brings me to a blank page. no big icons on the main screen and the small icons across the top do nothing.
I tried the IP reset and my password went back to default and it has a new IP address but still the same
Any help?
Is there a way to update the FW another way to get to the AZZG.2 version?

If there is not big icons, how do you upgarde your firmware?
Do you enable telnet or SSH?
If no, then you may only can reset to default setting.0
