HDD not working in NSA325 v2

Hey folks,

I just bought the NSA325v2 and this Desktop HDD:  "Western Digital WD Blue" with 500GB. I just need 500GB for a LAN Party

The UI is loading and I can connect via my browser. But the volume creation 'fails'. But it appears in the volume list after this - as DOWN. When I hit 'Check volume', it says:

e2fsck 1.41.14 (22-Dec-2010)
e2fsck.new: Superblock invalid trying backup blocks...
e2fsck.new: Bad magic number in super-block while trying to open /dev/md0
The superblock could not be read or does not describe a correct ext2
filesystem. If the device is valid and it really contains an ext2
filesystem (and not swap or ufs or something else) then the superblock
is corrupt and you might try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock:
e2fsck -b 8193
e2fsck -f -y return value:8

Anyone has an idea how to fix this?

Is it a problem because I only have one HDD in it?

  It should work without problems. Was that disk 'new' (as in 'without partitions') when you started?

  Sure; freshly bought it.... maybe it's incompatible with that NAS?

  Have you tried to remove the volume and re-create it? Preferably as another type. jbod if you used 'single disk' before.

  
  

  I have seen that problem before, and then it was caused by expanding a single disk array to raid1, which somehow caused the volume size to shrink a bit, causing the filesystem to fit no more.

  
  

  Another option is to use the Telnet Backdoor to create manually a new filesystem on the volume:

  <div>mke2fs -j /dev/md0</div>

  I tried to re-create it 10 times I guess (as JBOD; it's the only option I can choose)
