GS1200-5 strange behavior

  • Hi Mel,

Sorry, if you look at the pic of the switch above https://us.v-cdn.net/6029482/uploads/editor/7p/wyp730kd1271.jpg The blue cable is on Port 1. No PVID at the moment because it will crash the GS1200-5.

Maybe as this is a L2 switch, I do not need a PVID?

    Cheers,

    From your description:
If I do not create a PVID, no crash can be observed. But as soon as I create a PVID for example: PVID 2 Port 1, I lose connection, no ping, browsers become garbled. I need to reset the switch.
Do you mean when PC is connected to port 1 of GS1200-5 and after created PVID = 2 on port 1, you encountered the crash problem? Or ...?
If PVID is 1, then everything works properly?

Due to I still not clear about the problem setting, I tried, GS1200-5's port 1 is connected to the laptop and configured as below picture, and I can access the web interface.

If your GS1200-5 is only connected to PC on its port 1, does the problem still existed?
May I know which devices that you connected to GS1200-5's other ports?
  • Hi Mel,

Port 1 has the PC connected 192.168.1.8
    Ports 2,3,4 nothing connected.
Port 5 is connected to the Gateway 192.168.1.1

The situation is as above since 31 October, 2019.

If I set PVID 2 on Port 1. It crashes. If I do nothing, everything seems to work. I have not connected Port 3 or 4.

Do you think that I need PVIDs?

    Cheers,
    Jimmy

I think GS1200-5 hasn't crash. On V1.00(ABKM.4)C0, only VLAN 1 can access the web interface of GS1200-5. So, if GS1200-5 is configured PVID 2 on Port 1, then PC is not able to access GS1200-5 when connected to Port 1.

You can compare previous firmware with the same setting.
