USB Trasfer file too slow

Hi, I have a contract with windtre in Italy and I have the last modem which is a Zyxel modem, I've setted up a directory in the usb connected to the modem, this usb normally runs at 10MB/s on my laptop, but connected to the modem this speed drop drastically at around 300 kB/s... yes kB/s.....
This is my firmware version V5.13(ABRF.0)b5.... I cannot figure out how to update it.. I've no idea, pls someone can help?
