One of my drives is degraded and cant repair

Hi
i have a NAS540 and after a couple of years of use on and off one drive is degraded and i put in a new and tried to repair but it only starts and then it stops after like a minut of thinking.
anybody that know what up and how i can reapir it for real?

    I suppose you mean your array is degraded because one disk is dead? Do you have the possibility to test that new disk on another platform? It could be DOA.

    Is the new disk an ultrastar? This thread talks about incompatibility issues.

    THANK YOU! you didnt give me the answer, but thanks to the thread you linked i noticed what was missing.

    for future troubleshooters the fault was that the drive was formated and you need to have in non formated.
