Minimum internet speed

Hi Zyxel community
I wanted to ask if someone already noticed a minimum internet speed to load a router online on Nebula.
To give some context: we recently installed a router (SCR 50AXE) and after waiting 5-10min it did not show up online from our Nebula account.
After checking the internet speed, we noticed a low speed of around ≈5Mbps.
The router never appeared online. We moved it to another internet connection with a speed of around 50Mbps, and the router appeared online after 5min.
Once the router was adopted on Nebula, we moved it back to the initial site (with the low-speed connection) and it showed up online after 5min.

So my question is: have you noticed a minimum internet speed required to load a device the 1st time on Nebula?

Thanks for your insights.

    Hello @LSK_Support

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

We recommend a minimum WAN speed of 10-20 Mbps for the device to be online successfully on Nebula. The lower speed of 5 Mbps might have caused the initial connection issues.

We’re also curious about your network environment since it’s quite rare to see such low WAN speeds. Could you provide more details about your network setup?

    Hi Nami,
    Thanks for your answer.
Yeah, this is what we noticed. We're now asking for a minimum of 15Mbps to be sure.

Those specific contexts are outdoor stores, such as food trucks or establishments in the mountains.

Also, I was wondering if you'd have any tips/recommendations when a router does not load on Nebula, even though:

    • Internet speed is > 15Mbps
    • the ethernet cable between ISP modem LAN port <-> SCR50AXE WAN port is functional
    • ISP modem rebooted
    • SCR AXE 50 rebooted

We had the case already twice, we even tried to reset the SCRAXE 50 but without success.

    Thank you.

    Hi @LSK_Support

When the SCR 50AXE couldn't come online on Nebula, did you check whether the internet connection was stable for the ISP modem and the SCR 50AXE? It would be helpful to determine if the offline issue is specifically related to Nebula or a broader network connectivity problem.

Additionally, a new firmware update will be launched in September, which may help address any unstable connection issues between the device and Nebula. Please stay tuned for updates.

    Hi Nami,
    Thank you for your answer.
    The internet connection was stable.

OK, I'll wait until September to test this new version.

    Thank you.
