FLEX700 is managing 8 AP only

Hi,

we have a FLEX700 that was managing 19 AP. On April 2024, we renewed the UTM license as usual (p/n: LIC-BUN-ZZ0104F) but the FLEX decreased the number of managed AP to 8.

And now we have several AP disconnected from the controler.

How can we fix this? The ZyWALL has the firmware 5.38 patch 0.

Hi @dpipro ,

The Managed AP service has a default limit of 8 APs. To manage more than 8 APs, you'll need a Secure Wi-Fi license. Please note that this license is not included in the UTM pack.

You have two options to address this:

Upgrade from the UTM to the GSP pack.
Purchase a separate Secure Wi-Fi license for your USG FLEX 700 beside the UTM pack.

There have been no changes to the UTM licensing plan.

After reviewing your FLEX 700 (MAC address: BC:CF:4F:**:**:B5), we've found the following:
License history:

On 2023-04-04, you activated a GSP (Gold Security Pack) including a Secure Wi-Fi license, allowing management of up to 520 APs.
On 2024-03-25, you activated a UTM license, which doesn't include the Secure WiFi license, limiting AP management to 8 devices by default.

Options moving forward:

Order and activate a new GSP pack. This will place your current UTM license in queue.
Purchase a separate Secure WiFi license for your USG FLEX700 (Part number: LIC-SAPC-ZZ1Y04F).

thank you for your answer.

Clearly ZyXEL changed the UTM licensing plan. Previously it was possible to manage up to 24 APs with the UTM license. Was there any official communication from ZyXEL warning of this change?

Could you send me the p/n of Secure Wifi License?

Thank you for your answer.
Secure Wifi was lanched in 2021 to achieve a more secure teleworking environment. Manage AP Service already exists before that and with a regular license you could manage more than 8 AP.

But things have changed, it's normal… We will change to the GSP Pack.

FLEX700 is managing 8 AP only
