Client connection "hangs" when roaming trough the building
Hello,
I am new to troubleshooting access points. I have 7 NWA50AX APs in my house, and when I move from one room to another, I observe something strange.
I can walk through the whole house streaming YouTube, but when I change rooms, open Google, and try to search, the client often does not respond. Only when I disconnect from the network and reconnect again Google responds.
Any thoughts? I was wondering if I have too many APs.
Where do I start?
Thanks!

Hello @Remi
There could be several factors affecting the wireless connection of your client:
- Obstacles: Physical barriers like walls or devices (e.g., microwaves) can weaken the signal, leading to a drop in performance.
- Signal Overlap: Ensure proper signal overlap (15-20%) between APs for seamless roaming to avoid disconnections.
- AP Selection by Client: The client device generally decides which AP to connect to, typically choosing the one with the strongest perceived signal. However, even if a closer AP is available, the client might remain connected to a more distant AP as long as the connection appears stable.
When your client hangs during a Google search, check which AP it is connected to by navigating to Nebula Control Center > Clients > Client list and selecting the Wireless tab.
If the client is connected to a distant AP, increase the threshold at Configure > Access points > Radio settings > Smart steering to prompt it to connect to a nearer AP.
