SCR 50AXE - Some devices can't connect to WLAN

Hi,

We have one Zyxel SCR 50AXE at one location. Some computers can connect to this device just fine, but two devices can not.

Windows 10 gives an error that can't connect to this network.

The network has WPA2 personal.

One of the laptops have a Intel AC 3165 Wireless adapter.

What we have tried:

  • We have tried to update the drivers
  • If we make an open network, then devices can connect fine.
  • Tried a few netsh reset commands

Nothing seems to help.

These laptops connect fine to a Huwaei router with WPA2 personal WLAN.

Any ideas on what could be wrong?

    Hi @PuuhaPete,

What's the error message on Windows 10?

What wireless version is the wifi router?

Have you upgraded the wifi adapter driver?

Could you add an SSID with WPA3 and test if the wifi adapter can connect?

The Zyxel SCR 50AXE is managed from Nebula and is running the newest firmware.

This is the firmware: Current version:V1.10(ACGN.3) (Latest)

The logs in Nebula for SCR50 seems lacking and it does not show any logs for wireless devices, or atleast I can't find any.

Windows does not display anything meaningful in Event viewer. It is just stating that a connection was made, even though it was not.

    WPA3 has the same problem.

I have tried Microsoft drivers for the network adapter, Lenovo provided drivers and drivers from Intel website. All of them work the same and can not connect.

For me this seems like the problem that NWA 90 Access points had with some clients.

    Hi @PuuhaPete,

Thanks for the feedback. Could you enable Zyxel support access so we can check further?

Please follow this FAQ to enable it and share your org name with me.

I have the same problem. Win 11 laptops do no get to the network but say ”Can’t connect to this network”.
If I change the WiFi to open it works but an open network is NOT an option to me.
Please resolve this soon before I need to return your box.

We bought two usb wlan cards for these old machines and have them working fine now.

It seems like a problem with some specific wlan cards and the Zyxel SCR 50AXE.

Reminds me of the problems some of the NWA90 access points had with some wlan cards.

    Hi @PuuhaPete,

Thanks for your feedback. We also checked the known issue of Intel AC 3165 and found that it might have a connecting issue when it connects to a Wi-Fi 6 SSID.

You may try the solution in that post: "Upgrade the driver of the Wi-Fi adaptor to the latest version."

    Hi @HannuF,

Please help us clarify your issue:

    1. What Wi-Fi adaptor/NIC card is your laptop using?
    2. Is the driver of the Wi-Fi adaptor/NIC card upgraded to the latest driver version?
    3. Do you have other Wi-Fi clients that have the same issue?
    4. If question 3 is yes, what Wi-Fi adaptor/NIC card is it using?

I solved the problem. I bought tp-link AXE5400 and returned SCR50AXE. Now WPA2-personel works well with current laptop drivers.

    Your welcome.
