XGS-1930-28: SFP+ Ports not working in Nebula Cloud Management

I have a couple of XGS-1930-28 Zyxel Nebula Switches. I've activated 2 last year, they work fully as expected.

I recently tried to add 3 more switches and noticed the following behaviour:

When I add them using Nebula Cloud, the switch itself looks fine, but the SFP+ Ports do not work and I cannot get 10G Links up.

When I configure the same Switch with same SFPs & connection in local admin mode the SFP+ Slots work fully as expected.

When I then change back to Nebula cloud, the SFP+ Ports initially work and are shown active in Nebula Cloud, however after 2-3 mins they stop working and get dark.

Any Idea? Stefan

    Hi @sherbs ,

When the link is manually set to 10G/Full Duplex, the switch successfully syncs at 10G.
To clarify the link configuration when the link is set as Auto, I need to confirm: Are both ends using the same transceiver (SFP-10G-SR, part number: 10-2415-03)?

Hi Judy, yes, both ends are using the same transceiver Cisco 10-2415-03. Link is now properly synced @10G Speed. So I need to set the speed in Nebula Cloud on these ports manually to 10G/Full duplex, correct?

Thanks a lot for your support, I'm very glad you resolved the issue.

    Hi @sherbs ,

We assume that with your Test2 switch configuration at the other site, you have set the speed to fixed 10G. To establish a proper connection, you need to configure the same fixed speed or Auto settings on both sides, not just one end.
Please note that we cannot guarantee the performance or compatibility of third-party transceivers with our switches. For reference, you can find the list of supported transceiver models for the XGS1930-28 in the attached compatibility sheet.

    Hi @sherbs ,

Could you please share whether they are Zyxel-branded SFP+ modules, and provide model name of your SFP+ modules?

By the way, please enable Zyxel support and provide us with the name of your Nebula organization/site here or via the private message by clinking to my account > Message.

Hi Judy, thanks for your reply. I've enabled support as described.

    Organisation: Swisscom (Schweiz) AG
Site Name: Itt-Ey 8, EC Product Lab @ Shared Devices Lab

    Working XGS-1930-28:

    1. eclabswitch09 - Product Lab Switch 09, 28 Port, Datacenter
    2. eclabswitch21, 24Port GE, 4x10G

These switches are cloud managed and are equipped with Cisco 10G MM SFP+ Modules. They are working fine.

I've used the exact same SFP+ on the new Switches and on the new ones it did not work (only in local management mode).

The new switches are currently offline and I only will be able to connect them tomorrow 16.01.2025.

I've now connected one of the switches using Nebula Cloud.

    Organisation: Swisscom (Schweiz) AG

Site: Itt-Ey 8, EC Product Lab

    Switch: Test 2, Serial number:S232L37000818 (XGS1930-28)

    SFP+: Cisco SFP-10G-SR, 10-2415-03

Port 25 is equipped with this SFP.

In the Cloud Managed Switch the link syncs to 1G only.
In the Switch with local Management the SFP properly syncs to 10G

… still wondering why the two switches configured earlier work, they still have set the Link value "auto"
