Why is FLEX H being advertised as an upgrade?

I am not happy with the latest FLEX H model and the "trade in" promotion will certainly bring in more disappointed users.
The firmware is not feature complete versus the FLEX
The converter will not convert all config data, in fact almost none
1-2 year feature requests for missing functions of the FLEX
Someone really messed up this idea. On top of recent firmware/update fiascos, it's time to jump ship.

Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding the new FLEX H model. These are all important issues, and we are actively reviewing them with our product.
For some issue you mentioned, may I know more information?
- Which specific features are missing that you relied on in the original FLEX?
- Which part of configuration did not transfer correctly from the converter?
- Which feature requests are missing?
- Did you encounter any problem while upgrading to the latest firmware version 1.32?
Thank you again for your feedback, your insights will help us prioritize improvements and better align our updates with user needs.

Thank you MikeForshock for the heads-up, which I just saw. Ouch.

Unfortunately I have to agree with Mike at the moment….besides all of the pending feature requests, the H series firmware is just not stable yet….too many random lockups which require a hard power-off the device. Just this morning we had to send a tech out to a client site to reboot a locked flex100H(running latest available firmware). Not to mention how SLOOOW the interface is(and 10+ minute reboots…)
There are definitely some things that I like about the new interface, but this OS still needs a lot of development….

By the way, is there a schedule for the next "major" firmware?

The biggest issue is that this is missing features/functions that were in the previous line. It should not have fewer features; it should have more or just be better/faster at it. It's not.
The primary surprise for me was the incompatible config, useless converter and missing OSPF.
We have a config that we have developed over the last nearly 10 years, based on the USG / USG FLEX that had to be completely recreated and the differences between the UI, config options and command line made it so much more difficult, if not impossible to make it work correctly.
Is the device "operational", sort of. Its just a really pricey gateway now, with another brand router behind it doing all the network handling. More to manage, more cost. A security gateway running open source IDP/IPS with lists from other providers, basic routing, an added "SEIM" (SecuReporter) likely another OSS platform we are familiar with… but on a nicer/easier UI that is slower than the previous.

Let us hope that Zyxel will not shoot themselves in both feet and declare EOL on the existing USG, stable products before they have a stable line of newer products. That would cause an exodus of long-time clients for the above reasons, sooner or later.

Well, the FLEX series is EOL at the end of 2030. Despite that I've bought 2 of them a few days ago for a client instead of the H series, just because it isn't mature enough and I can't afford a 7-figure company to be a beta tester for Zyxel's new firmware OS.
