XGS1210/XGS1250 - Port Descriptions

Hi,

I have both of the above switches, really good bits of kit - they do everything I need them to do. The only nagging issue is the lack of ability to label the ports, whilst it doesn't stop things working and isn't a game stopper in any way, it makes it a pain trying to admin.

Some of the most basic switches I've worked with, not even GbE ones (D-link etc) offer the ability to label the ports - so please could this seriously be considered as a Firmware enhancement?

    Thank you for inquiring. This idea is on our roadmap; however, due to the priority of the firmware release, we have not scheduled a date for the firmware that will support this feature.

    Hi everyone,

    I’d like to join the request for a firmware update that would allow adding port descriptions. Some competing switches already offer this feature.

    The first post on this topic by @crucialguy dates back to October 2023 — more than two years ago — and nothing has changed since. At that time, Zyxel Guru @Zyxel_Melen only added the port labeling suggestion to the list of feature requests, and that was the end of it. Therefore, I doubt we’ll ever see a firmware update that includes port descriptions.
