XMG1915-10EP Switch to multiple operating Modes for the Device.
Hello,
I am currently using the switch in Basic mode. While performing a factory reset and a firmware upgrade, I noticed that apparently multiple operating modes are available for the device.
I would like to switch to a different mode in order to explore the available configuration options — but without having to perform another factory reset.
Could you please let me know if it is possible to switch modes without resetting the device to factory settings, and if so, how?
Thank you in advance for your support.

Hi @Montland
Not sure if you still keep in the Wizard page, if so, please leave the Wizard setup, and you will find other settings.
Additionally, the Wizard setup is used for initial setup. It is not recommended to set up with wizard again since it will overwrite the existing configuration.
Wizard only provides those four options, however, that is not the whole features that XMG1915 supports. Please reference this video for the features XMG1915-10EP supports:
Also, you don't need to change to Nebula since the reason you mentioned.

Hi @Montland
It seems you are now using the standalone mode. Change to Nebula mode, you don't need to perform a factory reset. To do this, ensure the switch has internet connectivity, then log in to your Zyxel Nebula Cloud account at https://nebula.zyxel.com. Navigate to "Organization-wide" > "License & inventory" > "Devices" and follow the prompts to add your switch to your Nebula organization. Additionally, your switch will be reset to factory default automatically before applying Nebula configuration.

Hello Zyxel_Melen,
Thank you very much for your response.
Did I understand you correctly that switching to the advanced operating modes is only possible via the Nebula Cloud? As a private user, the use of the Nebula platform seems significantly oversized and therefore not practical for me.
If this means that the advanced modes are not available in standalone operation, that is unfortunate. In concrete terms, this means that Zyxel will unfortunately no longer be a contender for my next project.
That's a pity, but thank you for the clarification.

Hi @Montland
Seems like we are not on the same page. Could you describe what you mean by "multiple operating Modes", "Basic Mode", and "advanced operating modes"?
Additionally, XMG1915 only supports standalone mode with web GUI and Nebula mode. Other models, such as GS2220, XGS2220, and XS3800, support standalone mode with a web GUI, standalone mode with a CLI, and Nebula mode. We won't say which is basic mode or advanced mode, since different mode has their advantages.

Hello Melen,
Thank you very much for your response. You have already answered my original question. Although the proposed solution does not meet my expectations, I naturally accept it.
However, your second follow-up question left me a bit puzzled. It gave me the impression that your initial answer may have been a standard response and that my specific concern might not have been fully taken into account.
Since my question was more out of interest in the operating modes (Basic, Protection, VLAN, QoS) and does not require immediate action, I would prefer not to go into further detail on the topic at this point. My main goal was to gain a better understanding of the context.

Hi @Montland
Thanks for the details. The thing you mentioned (Basic, Protection, VLAN, QoS) is just the Wizard setup, which is still in the standalone mode. After setting up with the Wizard, or skipping it, the web GUI will display other features the switch supports.
Additionally, you can find how to configure them on the Zyxel community FAQ.

Hallo Melen,
Yes, those are exactly the settings I was referring to. In my current configuration, the options appear very limited, and the advanced settings in the "Basic" section are not available to me.
That’s why I’m asking: How can I access this extended view with all the (new) options—without doing a factory reset or using the Nebula Cloud? That was actually the core of my original inquiry.
