Hi @Julie_nic1013,
Welcome to the Zyxel Community!
It sounds like your device is running into a scheduled event or an environmental change that triggers daily at exactly 5:00 PM.
Here are a few steps and possibilities to help troubleshoot this behavior:
- Check for SSID Schedules: Since the issue occurs daily at exactly 5:00 PM, there may be a wireless schedule configured in Nebula that automatically disables the Wi-Fi network after business or daytime hours. You can check this by going to Site-wide > Configure > Access points > SSID advanced settings (or SSID schedule) to see if any time-based rules are active.
- Verify PoE Switch Schedules: If your device is an Access Point powered via Ethernet (PoE) from a Zyxel switch, a PoE schedule might be applied to that switch port, shutting down or cycling power at 5:00 PM. Go to your switch port settings in Nebula to verify if a PoE schedule is enabled.
- Understand the Blue LED Status: On most Nebula Access Points, a solid blue LED indicates that the device is online, fully powered, and successfully connected to the Nebula cloud, but has no wireless clients connected. If your Wi-Fi is being turned off by a schedule, the LED will often turn blue because all clients have been disconnected, even though the hardware is still powered and online.
- Look for DFS/DCS Scanning: If the blue LED is blinking, it might be performing a Dynamic Channel Selection (DCS) or Channel Availability Check (CAC) due to radar detection (DFS). This can temporarily halt wireless broadcasts.
To help us narrow down the issue and provide the most accurate solution, could you share a few details about your setup?
- What is the exact product model of your Zyxel device?
- What is your network topology? For example, is the device plugged directly into a router, or is it connected through a PoE switch?
- What is the current firmware version of the device?
- What do you mean by “Stops working everyday at 5pm…”? For example, does the device completely stop functioning, or is a specific feature not working?
- In addition, please check whether any scheduled settings might be triggering this behavior.
Your detailed description will help us investigate this matter more effectively.
