NSA325 - 'Protect' missing from menu

Options
Hi, I've been using a NSA325 (v1 for many years, but recently got hit by a ransomware virus which has encrypted my files.
I decided to install a new 4tb SATA disk, and restore the majority of my files from a backup (saved on an external USB HDD), however when I've restarted the NAS the 'protect & backup' menu options have disappeared.

I also haven't got any packages available, and can't see the ftp server to download them again (also tried ftp2.zyxel.com from my pc, but that appears to be down?).

Is there any reason why the backup/restore option might have disappeared?

Seriously hoping I haven't lost everything !

TIA

Rob

I *think* the backup/restore option is only available when the 'Backup planner' package is installed. And indeed, the package server seems to be down. Let's hope it will be back soon. It is also down for the NAS5xx and NAS326, which are AFAIK still supported.

When the package server doesn't come back you should be able to find the package on the old disk, assuming it's not encrypted. In combination with MetaRepository you can install it.

Any idea how that ransomware had access to your files?

    Hi @Purple_robbie, @Mijzelf

The server is under maintenance during the weekend.
    The service is back now.

Is there a router above your NAS?
If not, you can buy a firewall to protect your Network.
You can consider to buy USG20-VPN.

@Zyxel_Jerry The server is back, but it's almost empty. It doesn't serve any NSA packages/firmware anymore.

    Hi @Mijzelf

To get the up to date firmware, you can still download the firmware through the official website directly.

Here it is the link: https://www.zyxel.com/support/download_landing.shtml

If you have specific requirement for those EoL models, please let us know.

Well, you have read the thread, I suppose. The OP needs the Backup planner package to be able to access his backup.

    Hi,
I also need to be able to download the default packages or, at the very least, the backup planner one. How can I get it?
    Thank very much in advance.
