I am looking for a 4G router with a USB port for an offgrid alarm system. The LTE3301-PLUS looks like what I need and is decently priced (and I can plug it straight in to the site's 12V battery bank), but I can't find any information on how much current the 3301's USB port is capable of delivering.
The alarm hub I'll be using alongside the router runs on 5V 1A USB power (i.e. 5 watts) which I am planning to draw from the router's USB port to avoid a standalone USB power adapter.
Is the LTE3301-PLUS capable of supplying 5V1A power from its USB port?
Thanks for any light you can shed on this.

Hello @JulietKilo
The LTE3301-Plus has a USB2.0 Host Port according to https://www.zyxel.com/global/en/products/mobile-broadband/4g-lte-a-indoor-router-lte3301-plus/specifications
USB2.0 is only rated at 2.5W according to the USB Implementers Forum, see slide 5 of this presentation: https://www.usb.org/sites/default/files/D2T2-1%20-%20USB%20Power%20Delivery.pdf
Kind regards,

Hi @tonygibbs16,
Thank you so much for responding quickly. Also, thank you very much for taking the time to post those informative links.
I'm glad I asked instead of just trying and overloading the USB port. I'll just have to get a 12V>USB adapter too, which is fine.
Thanks again!
Kind regards,
