Multy M1: specify VLAN with PPPoE
Hi, I need to use the Multy M1 as router.
My ISP provides an ONT in my home: I just need to attach the WAN port of the Multy to it, and configure the username/password and VLAN id, which my ISP (Vodafone) provides.
It's a simple configuration I successfully applied with other routers and mesh systems.
However, Multy PPoE configuration does not contain the VLAN parameter to be set.
Available parameters are only username/password/servicename.
This is a blocker issue for me.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Cheers

Hello @UserMulty
Welcome to the forum.
Looking at the user guide for Multy M1 at https://download.zyxel.com/Multy_M1_(WSM20)/user_guide/Multy%20M1%20(WSM20)_V2.40_Ed2.pdf linked from https://www.zyxel.com/uk/en-gb/products/wifi-system/ax1800-wifi6-whole-home-wifi-system-multy-m1, it is not an Operating Mode for Multy M1 to operate as you wish.
According to section 1.3 of the user guide, the Multy M1 either operates in Standard (router) mode or Bridge Mode.
In Standard (router) mode, the Multy M1 connects to the Internet via a Modem.
- The Modem would have the VLAN id and username/password for PPPoE in it, not the Multy M1.
In Bridge mode, the Multy M1 connects to the Internet via an existing router.
- The existing router would have the VLAN id and username/password for PPPoE in it or would have a modem connected to it, not the Multy M1.
I hope that this is helpful, but the Multy M1 does not seem to do what you want.
Kind regards,
Tony
PS: Maybe a Zyxel EX5501-B0 might be a suitible device between your ONT and Multy M1, see https://www.electronicfrontier.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/EX5501-B0_Datasheet_4-min.pdf for the datasheet.
