Scenario

You've reset the AP and are attempting to access its web interface for configuration. Despite using the default IP address and credentials, you find that you're unable to gain access.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Connection of AP and PC:
    • Wired: Make sure to connect your PC to the LAN port of the AP. Avoid using the Uplink port if your AP has multiple ports.
    • Wireless: Alternatively, connect to the AP's default SSID, usually named 'Zyxel- followed by the last 4 digits of the MAC address'. Check the Quick Start Guide for the exact SSID name.
  2. Check the IP:
    • Refer to the User Guide specific to your AP model to confirm the default IP address and credentials. Typically, the default settings are an IP of 192.168.1.X/24, username 'admin', and password '1234'.
    • Alternatively, you can use the Zyxel One Network (ZON) utility to easily find the IP address of your AP.
  3. Check the PC's Subnet:
  4. Uplink Device:
    • If the AP's uplink port is correctly connected to a router or modem with a DHCP Server function, you can check the AP's IP via the DHCP Table on that device. Make sure both the PC and AP are in the same subnet.
