What is Airtime Fairness and why is Airtime Fairness important?

Airtime Fairness is a feature found in many modern WiFi networks aimed at improving the overall efficiency and performance of the network. It ensures that all connected devices get an equal amount of time to communicate with the WiFi access point, rather than allocating bandwidth based on the device's speed capabilities. This means that slower devices won't disproportionately affect the network's performance.

Without Airtime Fairness, faster devices could be slowed down significantly by slower devices. In a mixed environment where both high-speed and low-speed devices are connected, slower devices could take up more airtime to transmit the same amount of data, leading to inefficiencies and performance bottlenecks. Airtime Fairness aims to level the playing field, ensuring a more consistent and reliable WiFi experience for all users.

How does Airtime Fairness work?

Airtime Fairness works by regulating the amount of time each device is allowed to send and receive data, rather than the amount of data they can send or receive. It prioritizes the distribution of airtime equally among all devices, ensuring that no single device can monopolize the network.

To enable the Airtime Fairness Feature, please navigate to

Nebula >> Configure >> Access points >> Radio Settings page>> Scroll down the page to the AP table >> Click the AP model which support Airtime Fairness feauture >> Enable the Airtime Fairness feature and click the "Update" and "Save" button to keep the modification.
