How to unregister Nebula device and what would happen to the configuration on the Nebula device?

To move a device from one organization to another, the user will need to remove it from the site and unregister it in the inventory first.
This topic will have the steps for all Nebula series to unregister them on Nebula CC.
We will also explain what happen to the local configuration when "removing from the site" or "unregister from the organization" in this post.

Gateway(NSG series):
  • Steps to remove from Site:
  1. Go to Site-wide > Devices > Security gateway.
  2. Click Pencil next to Configuration on the top left.
  3. Click Remove from this site and Save.
(NSG will reboot with default configuration but keeping WAN interface settings.)
  • Steps to remove from Organization
  1. Go to Organization-wide > License & inventory, and check the checkbox for your NSG.
  2. Click “Remove from organization” button to unregister NSG from Nebula CC.
(NSG will reboot with default configuration and also reset WAN interface settings.)

Switch(NSW series):
  • Steps to remove from Site:
  1. Go to Site-wide > Devices > Switches.
  2. Check the checkbox for your switch and click Move button.
  3. Click Remove from site and Save.
(NSW will reset to factory default, but the Cloud Connection Status in local WebGUI is Connected.)
  • Steps to remove from Organization
  1. Go to Organization-wide > License & inventory, and check the checkbox for your NSW.
  2. Click “Remove from organization” button to unregister NSW from Nebula CC.
(NSW will reset to factory default, but the Cloud Connection Status in local WebGUI is Unregistered.)

Switch(Hybrid switch):
  • Steps to remove from Site:
  1. Go to Site-wide > Devices > Switches.
  2. Check the checkbox for your switch and click Move button.
  3. Click Remove from site and Save.
(Switch will reset to default configuration, but the Cloud Connection Status in local WebGUI is Connected.)
  • Steps to remove from Organization
  1. Go to Organization-wide > License & inventory, and check the checkbox for your Hybrid switch.
  2. Click “Remove from organization” button to unregister Hybrid switch from Nebula CC.
(Switch will reboot with standalone mode and the Cloud Connection Status in local WebGUI is Unregistered.)

Access point(NAP series and Hybrid AP):
  • Steps to remove from Site:
  1. Go to Site-wide > Devices > Access points.
  2. Check the checkbox for your access point and click Move button.
  3. Click Remove from site and Save.
(AP will reboot with default cloud configuration and status Registered when it connects to Nebula CC)
  • Steps to remove from Organization
  1. Go to Organization-wide > License & inventory, and check the checkbox for your Access point.
  2. Click “Remove from organization” button to unregister Access point from Nebula CC.
(AP will reboot with factory default, but Hybrid AP will reboot with standalone mode and status Unregistered.)
