Layer 3 switches send IPv6 Router Advertisements (RA) as part of their default configuration to provide IPv6 network information to connected devices. However, if there is another IPv6 router in the network responsible for this task, the switch’s RA functionality may be unnecessary.

Solution:

To prevent the switch from sending out RA packets without disabling the entire IPv6 interface, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to System > IPv6 Neighbor Discovery > IPv6 Router Discovery Setup page.
  2. Select and edit the interface and Look for the option labeled "Suppress".
  3. Toggle the Suppress RA option and click the Apply button. This will stop the switch from sending out RA packets.
  4. Save the configuration
