By default, NCC allows anyone with the Nebula mobile app to take ownership of a device by scanning its QR code. Managing device ownership is crucial for MSPs (Managed Service Providers) to ensure security and proper allocation of network devices.

Nebula Control Center (NCC) offers a feature called "Device Ownership Takeover" that enhances this aspect, especially beneficial when devices are physically located at end-customer sites.

How to Enable Device Ownership Takeover

  1. Access Organization Settings:
    • Navigate to the MSP Portal settings in NCC.
    • Check the organizations and click on restrict or allow the "Device Ownership Takeover" option.
  2. Enable Restriction:
    • By default, this option is disabled, allowing anyone to take ownership of a device via the mobile app.
    • Enable this option to prevent unauthorized users from taking ownership of devices within the organization.

Benefits for MSPs

For MSPs, this feature is particularly valuable as they manage numerous devices often deployed at customer sites. By enabling the device ownership restriction:

  • Enhanced Security: Prevents end-customers or unauthorized users from claiming devices.
  • Better Control: Allows MSPs to maintain control over device ownership, ensuring that devices remain under their management.
  • Convenience: Simplifies the process of managing device ownership settings across multiple organizations from a single portal.
