Question:

We are getting WAN disconnection alerts from two of our sites, but our internet connection seems to be stable. What could be causing these alerts?

Answer:

The issue is caused by intermittent instability in the CP server, which pushes the configuration file to the devices and sometimes leads to false alert emails indicating WAN disconnection. Here are some steps that were suggested and taken to address the problem:

  • Enabled the WAN1 interface connectivity check on all sites.
  • Checked for the involvement of backend server instability with occasional disconnections to AWS.
  • Updated the backend server to enhance stability. Monitoring for a week was suggested.
  • Changed the first DNS on WAN1 to Google's DNS (e.g., 8.8.8.8) for some sites to potentially avoid false alerts.
