DHCP is working fine. IP adresses assigned to all clients for LAN and Wifi AP connection are good. Web GUIs are accessible and ping is working.

However Nebula app and NCC do not show the assigned IP adress in the client list column.

(Site-wide/clients)

All LAN/wired clients are connected through switch zyxel GS-1920-8HP do not show IP. Same on some wired Zyxel NWA access points. Some show IP, some not.

Makes it difficult to find and access relevant clients

Any ideas ?

    Hi @Shapy ,

To better support you, please enable Zyxel support.

Additionally, please provide us with the name of your Nebula organization/site here or via the private message by clinking to my account > Message.

    Hi @Shapy ,

In Nebula client list, IPv4 address are collected from LLDP information, Nebula Access point or Nebula Security gateway in the site.

The reason your Nebula Switch doesn't show some client's IP address is that clients don't support LLDP. To resolve this, please ensure that the devices connected to the switch support LLDP and LLDP include IP.

    Dear Judy,

Thank you. I understand the Nebula strategy to collect from LLDP, however it is an useless approach.

IMHO it is unlikely to achieve that all clients may have today or in future 100% LLDP readiness. Or it may take years…

It is disappointing to see that even the client based "fixed IP" adresses are not shown. Neither reserved fixed IPs on the Nebula serutity path nor directly on client sided fixed IP.

Still those are not shown as known IP adress in the client list. I would expect that at least fixed IP adresses are shown in the client lists.

The router and its DHCP musst have a client MAC to IP adress table. and nebula need to read out that table. Most of market available routers show the client connection lists table with MAC & IP driven from the DHCP process. DHCP table content.

As in my case zhe router Zyxel FWA710 router does not show such thing in its web configuration nor the Nebula is able to show me an active MAC→IP table its rather hard to administer the whole system.

Any other idea to see active MAC→ assigned IP table ?

    really desperate on that.

    regards shapy

    Hi @Shapy ,

Regarding the request for fixed IPs to be shown in the client list, if the devices are manually assigning IP addresses, the switch will not be able to retrieve those IPs unless the devices send LLDP information containing the IP TLV (Type-Length-Value). Without this information being included in the LLDP packets from the end devices, the switch, which operates at Layer 2, will not be aware of the IP addresses of these devices, as its main function is forwarding packets using Layer 2 information.
In addition, we will consider adding the capability for mobile routers to send IP information to Nebula as a potential future feature.

Thank you Judy. Good Idea to add this capability for mobile rouers.

However I am still unhappy with the general situation:

Even if you add in static IP adresses in Nebula via Nebula _> Configure>Firewall>interfaces>static DHCP tables. Like this :

Those aren't even shown in the client IP adress table !

That is really suprising, as Nebula knows allready the MAC-IP relevance in this section. Why not showing same information in the client overview ??

    Please review. Thanks a lot.
