No VoIP media when using EE data SIM

Hello,

I have an FWA510 and 710 mobile router. When I use a Vodafone SIM card and connect my VoIP phone everything works perfectly. If I use an EE SIM Card, the VoIP phone will register and connect but there is no voice media in either direction!

I have tested the SIM cards in other mobile routers and everything works perfectly, so it is not a mobile carrier issue.

Since the FWA510 & 710 work perfectly with the Vodafone SIM, everything is configured correctly.

Thus the issue is how the FWA510 & 710 work with the EE SIM. I have tried both the automatic and manual APN as recommended by EE and while I can get internet traffic, VoIP media traffic is not being passed.

This must be an issue with the Zyxel firmware and needs to be fixed ASAP.

Both the FWA's have the latest firmware.

Kind regards,

Stuart

In security settings try setting firewall to low and disable DoS

    Hello Peter,

Thanks for the input but the router settings I have work fine with the Vodafone SIM so should work exactly the same with an EE data SIM.

If I put the routers into IP passthrough, I still have the same issue; works fine on Vodafone but not on EE.

If I use a non Zyxel router, everything works on both the Vodafone and EE SIM's so I know the data SIMs and carrier network are fine. The issue appears to be within Zyxel's firmware.

    Regards,

    Stuart

I have EE on a FWA510 but no VoIP phone to test it seems a odd case…someone from Zyxel may look into this.

The only thing I can think of is the call tower you connect too for EE is handling SIP ALG oddly but works with other mobile router…so you should try what I said to do because something inbound might be blocked.

OK, after a lot of testing and speaking to EE, EE have stated that "they do not support VoIP over mobile data".

I have found a solution with our VoIP system that we can provide others (https://tptele.com), but if you are happy with your VoIP provider and need to use it over a mobile network, I suggest you move away from EE.
