NAS 326 constantly beeps / After boot keeps beeping 3 times

After running for over a year without problem my NAS started beeping in the middle of the night. A reboot ended with a constant indefinite beep. No connection to the NAS was possible from the PC. Neither Admin console nor via network drive.

After removing the discs and a reboot the NAS beeps 3 times in a row but still I can't connect to the admin console.

I have been unable to find the meaning of the beep codes in the manual.

Any idea what the matter might be?

It keeps beeping in irregular intervalls.

Strange. I can imagine a failure which causes a boot loop, but in that case the interval would be regular.

How do I recover the files from the harddrives?

Fortunately there is nothing exotic in the used structures. There is an ext4 filesystem on a normal Linux raid array. Even if you have one volume per disk, there is still a single disk raid1 array below it. If you connect both disks to a modern Linux box (Ubuntu is fine), the filesystems should be mounted automagically.

No. But have you already tried factory reset?

Pressing the reset button with a paperclip for over 30 sec did not result in the expected beep code. It keeps beeping in irregular intervalls.

I guess it's a total failure. Which brings me to my next question: How do I recover the files from the harddrives?
