[NWA130BE] Since 7.20, iPhone 16 toggles between WiFi and Celluar

Hello Melen, hello everyone, I think that only the NWA130 is causing the problem. I've had the version 730P3-DF-20260323 since March 28th and couldn't see the problem again. So everything looks good so far, but let's not overstate it. I will report immediately if the problem arises again.

Issue occured here again today. Diagnostic data was sent to @Zyxel_Melen

Is this problem solved in V7.30(ACIL.4)?

hallo again,
the problem is still alive!
Are there any workarounds?

Unfortunately, there is not. At least not to my knowledge. I am in constant exchange with @Zyxel_Melen.
I have provided numerous diagnostic logs so far and Zyxel engineers are seeing disassociation handshake issues. A developer firmware was supposed to fix this but without success.
Recommendation from Zyxel is further to reduce channel width and other basic radio related settings in order to stabilise. But the issue even occurs with those changed settings. I don't see a relation either because the issue happens with the iPhone being placed right next to the AP.I noticed recently that the issue is getting resolved as soon as I click on "collect now" in the diagnostic file creation process. I can reproduce this and Zyxel is now looking into this. Moreover I am being asked to provide WiFi traces to see if beacon transmission might be an issue.
So it is progressing somehow but it is also important that everyone is speaking up here becaue sometimes I have the feeling that Zyxel makes my environment responsible for this although this issue really only happens with the Zyxel APs.
P.S. It is my understanding that the iPhone 7 is affected as well. It is just not showing the "toggling" behaviour but rather remains on the mobile network constantly.0 -
As written in my last post here, @Zyxel_Melen asked me to collect Wifi network traces for further analysis. For some reason I was also asked to change the order of my configured SSIDs.
My original setup was:
1. SSID#1 with 2.4G
2. SSID#2 with 2.4G/5G/6G
3. SSID#3 with 2.4G/5G/6G
3. SSID#4 with 2.4G/5G/6G ⇒ SSID#4 is used by the iPhoneThe request was to swap #1 and #2 ending up in:
1. SSID#2 with 2.4G/5G/6G
2. SSID#1 with 2.4G
3. SSID#3 with 2.4G/5G/6G
3. SSID#4 with 2.4G/5G/6G ⇒ SSID#4 is used by the iPhone
As you can see, the actual relevant SSID was not touched and also nothing else was changed except the order.
Since then I am now eagerly waiting to collect the diagnostic files / traces, but the issue has not occured for me since two weeks now. Before I could see it on a daily basis.
Maybe it is all big coincidence and as soon as I press "Post comment" here, it will immediately pop up again ;) But maybe it is related and therefore a ask to everyone having the same issue to have a look at their SSID config. Maybe there is a pattern if you commpare it to my setup.0 -
Hi everyone, I am experiencing the same issue. I have two NWA130BE APs on V7.30(ACIL.4), but the problem only occurs on one unit.
Settings on both APs:
- Single SSID, WPA3 Personal
- 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz enabled
- Band Select, 802.11k/v, and Smart Steering: ON
The iPhone 16 toggles between WiFi and cellular. A reboot only resolves this temporarily. Other devices (HP and MacBook Pro) do not show this behavior.
Although both APs use the same firmware and configuration, the second unit is not affected.

Hi @Flachzange
Thanks for sharing. It is good to hear the issue doesn't happen again in your network. If the issue reoccurs, further investigation and diagnostic information would still be required to help identify the root cause.
Additionally, we think the SSID config is less related with this issue.
For cases involving intermittent iPhone connectivity issues, we would suggest considering the following verification steps:
- Forget the affected Wi-Fi network on the iPhone.
- Restart the iPhone.
- Reconnect to the SSID and monitor the behavior.
Although the exact cause may vary depending on the environment, recreating the Wi-Fi profile allows the iPhone to establish a fresh wireless session and may help clear any client-side connection state or previously stored network information that could be contributing to the observed behavior.
This approach may be particularly useful when the issue appears intermittent, cannot be reproduced consistently, or temporarily recovers after actions such as roaming to another AP or restarting the iPhone.
Hope this helps.
