FWA515: No SIM Card Detected Error (5G+WiFi Good, Internet/WAN Access/Connection Down

Hello, I have a FWA515-EU0102F and it’s fairly unused. The globe/world light is red, the 5G is blue+blinking and rest are green.  My router worked good 1 whole week, and now for about 5 days it hasn’t been working (except once for 30 mins).

On Sunday I wanted to test with Pildyk call/sms/internet SIM compared to home internet sim to see if there's a difference between phone sim and the TELE2 internet sim on speedtest.net while the router was on and working, I removed the home internet 5G sim and inserted the regular phone 5G sim (both cards were new/only used for a week). After few seconds of working with phone sim it stopped. Since that moment the router stopped working with dedicated internet sim (except yesterday when it worked for 30 mins -1 hour randomly). Now I have 2 new SIM cards from TELE2 and it doesn’t work with them either.  I’ve tried everything; resetting with and without SIM card, making sure all steps are correct (insert cable, then turn on power source, then on/off button all while sim is inside), I’ve tried turning in and off, I’ve gone into the admin and tried many things (manual cellular WAN APN, automatic, turning on roaming, turning on something that’s called like automatic diagnostics), updating the firmware to the latest (I think it’s like V1.6 or something) but so far, no fix. all 4 of these SIM cards work fine on my iPhone. Also, there’s no SIM lock. it just says SIM card not detected, WAN down, connection down, etc. in admin.  Need help. :( such an expensive device. Also seems like I still can’t connect this device to nebula (known issue I read by one of your employees posted here, although they said they’ll fix it in a future update).

    Hi @SBJ ,

A red Internet (Global) indicator means the Internet connection is unavailable, and a blue blinking Cellular Signal Strength indicator means no SIM card is detected or the SIM card is invalid.

It appears your FWA515 is having difficulty re-initializing the cellular module after the SIM swap — the IMSI code may not have been correctly read by the hardware.

Please follow the steps below to troubleshoot and restore the connection:

    1. Power off the device and remove the SIM card.
    2. Check the SIM card for any dust or debris and clean if necessary.
    3. Re-insert the SIM card firmly, then power the device back on and wait 5 minutes for the initialization sequence to complete. Ensure the Power LED is solid green.
    4. Using a thin object, press and hold the RESET button for more than 5 seconds.

Note: Pressing the RESET button for fewer than 5 seconds will only reboot the device and will not re-initialize the cellular module or re-read the IMSI code.

If the FWA515 still cannot detect the SIM card after completing these steps, please submit an RMA request.

If the FWA515 is working properly again but the Nebula connection issue persists, please provide your Nebula organization and site details and enable Zyxel Support access — we will be happy to investigate further.
