    Hi Zyxel Tina,

Thanks for the reply and clarification - was looking at the Zyxel NR5103EV3 5g router online

but couldn't see it in your store, is it under a different name? and does this allow DNS over HTTPS/TLS?

    Thanks!

    Hi @Poe,

    Thank you for your feedback!

To ensure we provide the most accurate recommendation and best support for your setup, could you share more about your deployment environment and specific requirements? For instance:

    • Is this for a home office, small business, or enterprise environment?
    • How large will the deployment environment be?
    • Will other devices be connected to this router/gateway, and if so, how (e.g., wired Ethernet)?
    • Besides DNS over HTTPS/TLS, are there other critical features you need (e.g., high-capacity VPN, high-quality wireless/WiFi performance, or specific port configurations)?

Once we have a better understanding of your scenario and usage, we can determine whether the NR5103EV3—or another specific solution—would be the ideal fit for you.

    Hi Zyxel_Tina

    • Is this for a home office, small business, or enterprise environment?
    • Yes, Home Office
    • How large will the deployment environment be?
    • 2 people
    • Will other devices be connected to this router/gateway, and if so, how (e.g., wired Ethernet)?
    • Yes, will be connected to Ethernet switch
    • Besides DNS over HTTPS/TLS, are there other critical features you need (e.g., high-capacity VPN, high-quality wireless/WiFi performance, or specific port configurations)?
    • Not really the device mentioned looks good enough - just not sure about configurable
    • DNS over HTTPS/TLS ?
    • As I mentioned its not available in your store, is it under a different name?
    • Also, would like to know if it's configuration can be done via web browser?
    • Thanks!

    Hi @Poe,

    Sorry for the late reply!

Please let me clarify first, DNS over HTTPS/TLS (DoH/DoT) is mainly used to control how DNS queries are handled when a client sends a DNS request. If DoH/DoT is enabled, the device will follow the configured rule to decide how to process that query and the related traffic, for example by dropping suspicious or security-related DNS requests, or allowing the traffic to pass through.

In general, this type of feature is more commonly found on firewalls rather than on 5G routers. Therefore, we would like to confirm the main reason you need DoH/DoT. Is there any specific requirement or use case you are trying to achieve?

If your primary goal is to control and secure network traffic (for example, blocking malware domains and setting security policies), then what you actually need is a dedicated security appliance. In that case, we would recommend considering the USG FLEX H Series firewalls—the USG FLEX 50H or 100H are likely sufficient for your use case. These devices run our uOS platform and include DNS Threat Filter, App Patrol, and content filtering features.

On the other hand, if you're simply looking for a fast, easy-to-manage 5G router for your home office, we'd recommend the Nebula FWA515 indoor 5G router:

    • Wi-Fi 7 BE7200 (vs. Wi-Fi 6 on older models) — up to 7.2 Gbps with Multi-Link Operation (MLO) for smoother video calls and cloud workloads
    • 5G speeds up to 7 Gbps with 5G NR Release 16 SA/NSA dual-mode support
    • Automatic WAN Failover between 5G and Ethernet
    • 2x 2.5GbE LAN ports — great for connecting to your Ethernet switch

Last but not least, all of the devices mentioned above are fully configurable via Web GUI.

Hope this helps! Please let me know if you have further questions
