NAS520 max HD Capacity unclear(?)

This value varies in official sources. Tend to believe in

where 2x12 TByte are given. Amazon offers know 2x6 TByte and a leading national magazine here wrote about 2x8 TByte. Thought about successive changes by new firmware but didn't find those specifications in the change log.
Don't want to buy a 12-TByte doorstop so does anyone know for sure?

MAX 16TiB for a single volume
In case, 2 HDD 8Tib are ok for one volume if compatible.
here the compatible list from Zyxel for your product, but I don't see any HDD 8TiB (not updated from long time) :

The FW is basically the same.

I can see the Zyxel's global website update the compatibility list as dtr's link for BE/NL on 2017/12/06 to mention supporting Seagate 12TB HDD now.

So I think the 12TB HDD should already verify done by offical and workable on NAS, so 2x12TB, 24TB is  the maximum capacity for 2 bay NAS, but the limitation is why Fredzoul1 mentioned, maximum volume is 16TB as Mijzelf's explaination.
